For GR

For GR is a prelude and fugue for solo piano written in memory of the late Richard Kuenkler. Richard, who also went by GR, was a friend of mine at the end of his life, with whom I would frequently have long chats about music. He was a talented organist through much of his life, and always had a love for J.S. Bach's music. He had found a strong connection with Thai Buddism later in his life as well, something which greatly informed his perspective in his later years. Prelude is composed to mimic the concept of the Kalachakra (Kālacakra), and Fugue is a pseudo-fugue built off of note clusters embedded inside Prelude.
